A System for Tension Monitoring in Cable-Based Parallel Architectures
نویسنده
چکیده
In this papercable-based architectures are classified as active (i.e. cable parallel robots) and passive (wirebased measuring systems). For both classes the identification of applied/exerted wrenches is of fundamental importance for the use and feasible operation of the system. A suitable model and low-cost easy operation system for tension monitoring are proposed for experimental validation for both classes as an unified type of system.

Dynamic Analysis of Moving Cables with Variable Tension and Variable Speed
Dynamic Analysis of an axially moving cable with time dependent tension and velocity isstudied in this paper. Tension force and the moving speed are assumed to be harmonic. It is found that there exists a specific value of speed in which natural frequency of the system approacheszero. This specific speed for such a critical condition is called critical speed and it will be proved thatincreasing ...
متن کاملStability Analysis and Robust PID Control of Cable Driven Robots Considering Elasticity in Cables
In this paper robust PID control of fully-constrained cable driven parallel manipulators with elastic cables is studied in detail. In dynamic analysis, it is assumed that the dominant dynamics of cable can be approximated by linear axial spring. To develop the idea of control for cable robots with elastic cables, a robust PID control for cable driven robots with ideal rigid cables is firstly de...
متن کاملInterval Analysis of Controllable Workspace for Cable Robots
Workspace analysis is one of the most important issues in the robotic parallel manipulator design. However, the unidirectional constraint imposed by cables causes this analysis more challenging in the cabledriven redundant parallel manipulators. Controllable workspace is one of the general workspace in the cabledriven redundant parallel manipulators due to the dependency on geometry parameter...
متن کاملLong-Term In-Service Monitoring and Performance Assessment of the Main Cables of Long-Span Suspension Bridges
Despite the recent developments in structural health monitoring, there remain great challenges for accurately, conveniently, and economically assessing the in-service performance of the main cables for long-span suspension bridges. A long-term structural health monitoring technique is developed to measure the tension force with a conventional sensing technology and further provide the in-servic...
متن کاملDevelopment of an Automated Wireless Tension Force Estimation System for Cable-stayed Bridges
Cable-supported bridges rely on the use of steel cables to support the bridge deck and load on it. Cable tension forces are monitored during construction to assist the alignment of cables and to ensure no cables are overloaded. Given that the cables are critical load carrying elements, it is prudent to routinely monitor the levels of cable tensions during operation. With current measurement met...
